The research group Education, Communication and Tecnhologies (GEC), was created in 1994 with the goal of analysing the intensive presence of Mass Communication Media in society and particularly the emergence of Information and Communication Tecnhologies (ICT) and the considerable influence they have had and having in culture and education.

We analyse the pedagogical aspects of these technologies, with a view to developing new approaches to integrate them, considering the emergence of cyberculture. Our special interest nowadays concerning the Open Source movement, specially with the so-called Digital Divide, the Open Archive movement, distance education and the new possibilities for curriculum in contemporary society.
